Plan your liveaboard in Komodo
Leisure or diving?
Leisure programmes prioritise island visits, snorkelling and time aboard. Dive-led itineraries need a closer look at certification requirements, site selection, equipment and how non-divers are looked after. Confirm the actual daily programme. Read the guide for divers travelling with non-divers before choosing a mixed-group sailing.
2D1N, 3D2N or longer?
Use 2D1N–4D3N as starting points for a park itinerary. Longer trips may be dive-focused or a regional crossing. Check embarkation and disembarkation ports, transfers and overnight locations before booking flights. Use the one- to four-day Komodo comparison to choose your starting format.
Dates and conditions
Departure calendars, sea conditions, visibility and access to particular sites can vary. Ask the operator for the planned route for your dates and its weather contingency. Read the Komodo season guide for trip planning context.
Cabins and your group
Guest capacity is a maximum, not a promise of cabin space. Check bed configuration, air conditioning, bathroom arrangements and whether a shared cabin is assigned. Families and mixed diving groups should confirm supervision and activities. For leisure stops, compare snorkelling locations, entry and exit questions with the operator.
How to choose the best Komodo liveaboard for your trip
The best Komodo liveaboard depends on your route, group and the cabin you can actually book. Shortlist boats, then test each against the same requirements. Alphabetical catalogue order is not a quality or safety ranking.
Use the same evidence for each shortlisted vessel| Compare | Evidence to request | How to decide |
|---|
| Programme and route | Named start and end ports, planned sites, duration and daily activities. | Keep leisure, dive-led and crossing trips separate. Equal duration does not establish the same route. |
|---|
| Cabin fit | Offered cabin name, beds, occupancy, bathroom, deck position and air conditioning. | Compare the assigned room, not the headline suite. Resolve steps, noise and storage needs. |
|---|
| Guests, spaces and crew | Maximum guests, normal occupancy, common-space layout and crew or guide roles. | Cabin count and a premium class do not prove space per guest or stronger supervision. |
|---|
| A comparable offer | Same dates, currency, duration, route and purchase unit, with inclusions and extras. | Compare per-person with per-person or whole-boat with whole-boat. A catalogue fare is not availability confirmation. |
|---|
| Departure and change terms | Written vessel and cabin confirmation, minimum departure rules, weather changes and substitution terms. | Resolve unknowns before paying; missing details are not free inclusions or an equivalent replacement. |
|---|
| Activity support | Guides, tenders, relevant equipment, experience requirements and the emergency outline. | Verify the actual programme for divers or mixed groups. Class cannot certify dive capability or safety. |

This method uses the vessel facts and sourced offers shown in the directory. Missing fields remain questions to resolve; no universal winner is inferred from Deluxe, Luxury or VVIP. Read the Komodo fleet report and its counting method for the inventory context.
KomodoInsider is a discovery directory. It does not inspect or certify each departure, hold live cabin inventory or take payment. Confirm availability, bookings, payments and refund terms with the operator.

Compare Deluxe, Luxury and VVIP classes by their facilities, then decide between a shared trip and private charter. For sleeping arrangements, read the liveaboard cabin guide.
