    Riley

Five cabin categories for Komodo island trips

    Cruising Areas

    Komodo cruises

Riley operates from Labuan Bajo into Komodo National Park on short private charters and scheduled shared sailings.

    Route details

Typical 3D2N routing combines Kelor and Manjarite on the first day, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Taka Makassar and Manta Point on the central day, then a final snorkeling stop before returning to Labuan Bajo.

Private 2D1N and 4D3N programs adjust the number of stops, while weather and park conditions can change the sequence.

    Who This Suits

Suits: couples, families and small groups that want a traditional phinisi with a jacuzzi and several cabin tiers. The shared cabin also makes Riley accessible to travellers who do not want to charter the whole vessel.

Also works for: groups of up to 12 in the standard layout, with extra-bed arrangements published up to 14 for private use.

Less suited to: guests seeking a dedicated dive liveaboard with published compressors, Nitrox or a fixed dive-guide ratio; Riley is positioned primarily for leisure cruising and snorkeling.

    About This Vessel

Riley is a 29-metre traditional phinisi built in Bulukumba in 2020 from ulin ironwood and teak. The published specification lists a 5-metre beam, 1.8-metre depth, 62 GT, a Mitsubishi 6D16 main engine and a cruising speed of about 6–9 knots. Five air-conditioned guest cabins accommodate 12 guests in the standard layout and up to 14 with extra-bed arrangements.

The cabin mix gives Riley more variety than many boats in its class. The upper-level Master Suite adds a private balcony and sea view, while Junior Suite, Superior and Deluxe cabins cover private double accommodation. A four-berth Shared Cabin provides the lower-cost open-trip option. Four cabins have private bathrooms and the shared cabin uses a shared bathroom, so the overall ensuite field is intentionally marked “Some cabins” rather than overstating the layout.

Riley is designed for leisure cruising around Komodo National Park. Onboard features include a jacuzzi, karaoke and sound system, indoor lounge, outdoor dining, sun deck, television, hot water, snorkeling equipment and a stand-up paddleboard. Published navigation and safety information includes Garmin/GPS navigation, marine radio, a 20-person life raft, a lifeboat, life jackets, ring buoys and fire extinguishers.

Both private charter and shared/open-trip inventory are currently sold. The minimum private charter duration published for Riley is 2D1N, while shared departures are typically sold as 3D2N Komodo sailings. Routes combine trekking and wildlife encounters with snorkeling at places such as Manta Point and Taka Makassar, starting and ending in Labuan Bajo.

      Frequently Asked Questions

Can Riley be booked as a private charter and an open trip?

The rate table lists shared-trip accommodation and private whole-boat packages. A private cabin on a shared departure is different from chartering the entire vessel. See Rates & Packages in Cabins & Pricing for trip lengths, units and conditions. Confirm the chosen departure and cabin allocation before payment.

How many guests and cabins does Riley have?

Riley has five guest cabins. The standard overnight capacity is 12 guests, with published extra-bed arrangements allowing up to 14 on selected private bookings.

What are the cabin types on Riley?

The published layout includes one Master Suite, one Junior Suite, one Superior Cabin, one Deluxe Cabin and one four-berth Shared Cabin. The Master Suite has a private balcony and sea view.

Does every Riley cabin have a private bathroom?

No. Four cabins are published with private bathrooms, while the Shared Cabin uses a shared bathroom. That is why this listing records ensuite availability as “Some cabins.”

What is Riley’s current price range?

Compare the listed fares in Rates & Packages under Cabins & Pricing. Each offer states its trip length and whether the amount is per person, per cabin or for the whole vessel. Check the selected package conditions, taxes, extra fees and any minimum stay with the operator before payment.

      What facilities are available onboard?

Published facilities include a jacuzzi, karaoke and sound system, television, lounge, outdoor dining, sun deck, hot water, snorkeling equipment and a stand-up paddleboard.

What places does Riley usually visit in Komodo?

Typical itineraries include Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong, Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Taka Makassar, Manta Point and a final snorkeling stop such as Kanawa. The exact sequence can change with weather and park conditions.

      What is the cancellation policy?

The referenced package seller publishes the following terms: The published private-charter terms allow a refund for cancellations made at least 60 days before departure, less an administration fee. Cancellations within 59 days are non-refundable, so the policy is classified as Moderate on KomodoInsider. These are seller-specific reference terms, not confirmation of the policy for booking directly with the operator. Request the current written deposit, cancellation and rescheduling conditions before payment.
