    Komodo is Majik home region and the cheapest way onto her.

    Route details

    Because diving is inside the rate, the economics here are different from most vessels in the park.

    Fun dives, Nitrox, tanks and all gear except a computer are included, along with the marine park, harbour and community fees that other operators collect separately at the gate.

    On a four-night Komodo trip that bundle is worth several hundred dollars a head.

    At 2.2 metres of draft she is shallower than the 45 to 55-metre yachts and can work anchorages they cannot.

    With only eight guests and two RHIB tenders, getting ashore at Padar before the day boats arrive is a matter of deciding to, not queuing for it.

    Raja Ampat cruises

    These sell out well ahead.

    Route details

    This is where the dive setup matters most.

    Two Coltri Nitrox compressors and an eight-guest maximum means a genuinely low ratio in the water and no waiting for tank turnaround.

    The photographer desk on board is not decoration either, given how many people come here to shoot.

    Rates east of Komodo run slightly higher across the board, both for the whole vessel and per cabin.

    Banda Sea cruises

    The Banda Sea and the Forgotten Islands are Majik shoulder-season crossings, joining in Ambon.

    Route details

    They are the least frequently scheduled and the most weather-dependent trips she runs.

    The diving is pelagic: hammerhead schools on the seamounts, the sea snake aggregation at Manuk, and walls dropping into open ocean.

    Ashore, Banda Neira still carries the Dutch forts and nutmeg groves that made these islands the original reason Europeans sailed this far.

    Be realistic about the passages.

    A 42-metre hull with a 2.2-metre draft is a shallow, manoeuvrable boat rather than a heavy-weather one, and Banda crossings are long open water.

    Fine in the right window, which is exactly why the operator does not run them year-round.

    Alor cruises

    The Komodo to Alor route is a one-way crossing east through the Lesser Sunda chain, and it is one of the more interesting things on her calendar because it covers ground most boats skip entirely.

    Route details

    Alor itself sits at the end of the Pantar Strait, where cold water funnelling between the islands produces the visibility and the current the region is known for.

    Drift entries are normal.

    The muck sites hold species Komodo does not have, and with eight guests the dive plan can actually flex to conditions.

    The land half is the reason to come as much as the reef.

    The hill villages above Kalabahi still weave and still hold ceremonies on their own terms.

    Expect a genuine expedition rather than a park loop.

    Komodo-to-Sumbawa itineraries combine the Komodo region with whale-shark and manta encounters where conditions permit.

    Who This Suits

    Who Majik suits

    Divers who resent paying twice. Fun dives, Nitrox, tanks and all gear except a computer are inside the nightly rate, as are marine park and harbour fees and airport transfers. On most vessels in this bracket every one of those is an extra. If you dive, Majik is materially cheaper than her headline rate suggests.

    Couples and small groups who want space rather than a crowd. Eight guests in four cabins on a 42-metre hull. The aft master alone is 41 square metres. Comparable-length boats carry sixteen.

    Families with one or two children. Both master cabins have a sofa that converts to a child bed, so a family of three fits in one room without an adjoining cabin.

    Travellers who want the owners involved. Marc and Elena commissioned her and still run her. That shows up in the specification and in the fact that the schedule is built around good itineraries rather than maximum turnover.

    Who it suits less well

    Large groups. Eight is a hard ceiling and there are only four rooms. A party of ten cannot charter her.

    Anyone wanting a short trip. The shortest published departure is five days and four nights. There is no two-night Komodo option.

    Guests expecting superyacht scale. Eleven crew and no spa room, no gym, no jacuzzi. The luxury here is space and inclusions, not amenities.

    Peak-season bookers. A ten per cent supplement applies around Easter, 15 July to 31 August, and 15 December to 15 January, and the Raja Ampat departures sell out months ahead.

    About This Vessel

    Majik is a 42-metre phinisi built in 2022 at Bira in South Sulawesi, and she belongs to Marc and Elena, who commissioned her and still run her. That matters more than it sounds. Owner-operated boats tend to be specified around how the owners themselves want to travel rather than around a spreadsheet, and Majik reads that way: four cabins on a hull that could comfortably have carried eight.

    Eight guests, eleven crew, and 41 square metres for the aft master suite. The equivalent cabin on most 42-metre phinisis is half that. The aft master opens directly onto the swimming platform, so the first swim of the day happens before anyone has had coffee. Forward, the second master repeats the layout at 33 square metres, and two 18-square-metre deluxe cabins sit either side of the lower deck with beds that convert from king to twin.

    The main deck is fully open-air with the galley and bar in the middle of it, so the chef cooks in front of the guests rather than behind a bulkhead. Above that, a sun deck with uninterrupted views. Below the hospitality, she is properly equipped: two Coltri Nitrox compressors, two five-metre RHIB tenders, a 5,000 litre a day watermaker, a photographer desk, a massage table and a freediving buoy and line.

    What separates her commercially is that diving is inside the price. Fun dives for certified guests, Nitrox, all gear except a computer, marine park and harbour fees, airport transfers and a massage per guest per cruise are all included in the nightly rate. She sells both as a whole-boat charter and by the cabin on scheduled departures, which run from four nights in Komodo up to eleven nights in Raja Ampat.

    Still enormous by phinisi standards. Most 42-metre vessels put six or eight cabins into the space Majik gives to two.

      • The final SiOra total can include entrance, activity, vessel and special-use charges. Ask the handling operator for an itemised total before issuance.
      • Official public guidance does not state one universal refund or rescheduling rule for every reservation. Confirm the current SiOra terms in writing before the ticket is issued, including treatment of weather disruption.

      Statutory fees under Peraturan Pemerintah No. 36 Tahun 2024, in force since 30 October 2024. Verified 31 August 2026 against the official PP 36/2024 schedule, the Ministry of Forestry SiOra notice and the Ministry’s 2026 quota notice. Amounts are payable in rupiah; dollar figures are courtesy estimates converted at Rp 17,900 and rounded.

      Is diving included in the price?

      What is the shortest trip available?

      Five days and four nights, in Komodo. The published schedule runs from there up to twelve days and eleven nights in Raja Ampat. There is no short two or three night option, which is deliberate given the distances she covers.

      Are the national park fees included?

      Yes. Marine park, harbour and community fees are inside the rate, along with two-way airport transfers. That is unusual in Komodo, where most operators collect the park and ranger fees separately on the day.

      How many guests and what is the cabin layout?

      Eight guests in four ensuite cabins, all on the lower deck. The Master Deluxe is 41 square metres at the aft with direct access to the swimming platform, the Master is 33 square metres forward, and two Deluxe cabins are 18 square metres each amidships with beds that convert from king to twin. Both masters have a sofa that works as a child bed.

      Is there a single supplement?

      Yes. A solo traveller occupying a cabin alone on a shared departure pays a 75 per cent single occupancy surcharge. There is no surcharge on a private charter, where the rate is for the whole vessel regardless of how many of the eight berths are used.
