Komodo

The only ground she works, on a fixed 3D2N loop twice a week. Day one after the morning pickup covers Kelor for the trek and Manjarite for snorkelling, finishing at Kalong for the flying foxes at sunset. Day two starts with the Padar ridge before breakfast, then Pink Beach, the dragons on Komodo Island, Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Day three is a last snorkel at Siaba or Sebayur before returning to port at eleven. About This Vessel

Elbark Cruise is a 37-metre, 167-tonne phinisi working Komodo National Park out of Labuan Bajo, and she is one of the newer hulls in the fleet rather than a refit of an older cargo boat. Nine cabins across three decks, twenty-one guests, and a fixed twice-weekly schedule that runs Friday to Sunday and Monday to Wednesday with dates already published into 2028.

The cabins are named after Indonesian islands and reefs, and they grade cleanly by deck. Misool sits on the upper deck with a queen bed, a bathtub, a private balcony and the only jacuzzi on board. Weh and Mentawai share the upper deck with queen beds and bathtubs but no balcony. Rote and Selayar are on the main deck, Toraja, Alor, Naira and Savu on the lower. All nine have queen beds, ensuite bathrooms and hot water, and the three upper-deck cabins take a third guest on an extra bed, which is how nine double cabins carry twenty-one people.

Common areas run to an air-conditioned lounge and dining room, a second dining area outdoors, a sky deck and a sunbathing area on the main deck. Entertainment is a movie setup and karaoke, and wi-fi covers the boat. Snorkelling gear, a paddleboard and a canoe are carried as standard, and professional photo, drone and GoPro documentation is included in the fare rather than sold as an add-on.

Mechanically she runs a Mitsubishi 8M20 at seven to ten knots, with 30 kVA and 40 kVA generators plus an 8,000-watt emergency set, 9,000 litres of fresh water and 5,500 litres of fuel, and an aluminium tender with a 40 hp Yamaha. There is no dive centre or compressor on board; this is a snorkelling and island-hopping boat.

Booking runs through SIORA, the park's own system, and is handled by a licensed operator before arrival. There is no ticket window at the gate.
A daily cap of 1,000 visitors applies across the park, split between Komodo, Rinca and Padar and the dive sites around them.
Entry runs in sessions rather than all day, which is why a boat's arrival time is set by the park and not by the crew.
A drone permit is separate, expensive, and has to be requested well in advance.

When does Elbark Cruise depart?

Twice a week, all year, on a fixed 3D2N loop: Friday to Sunday and Monday to Wednesday. The operator publishes the calendar unusually far ahead, with dates listed through 2027 and into 2028, so departures can be booked well in advance of flights.

Which cabin should I book?

Deck decides the price. Misool on the upper deck is the only cabin with a private jacuzzi and balcony at $640 per person. Weh and Mentawai are also upper deck with bathtubs but no balcony. Rote and Selayar sit on the main deck, and Toraja, Alor, Naira and Savu on the lower deck, where Naira and Savu are the cheapest at $365. All nine have queen beds and ensuite bathrooms.

Can three people share a cabin?

Only in the three upper-deck cabins, Misool, Weh and Mentawai, which take a third guest on an extra bed at $305. The six main and lower deck cabins are strictly two-person. That is how nine double cabins carry twenty-one guests.

Is diving available?

No. There is no dive centre, compressor or dive guide on board and no dive package is sold. Snorkelling gear is included and Manta Point is on the itinerary as a snorkel stop. For scuba, look at boats in this directory with a dive deck and compressor.

What is not covered by the fare?

Flights, accommodation before and after the trip, insurance, alcohol, personal expenses, crew tips and Komodo National Park fees are separate. Ask for the current park-fee total and the exact documentation inclusions for your booking.

What happens if I cancel?

The referenced package seller publishes the following terms: Cancelling 60 days or more before departure returns 40 per cent of what was paid. Inside 59 days there is no refund. Shared trips can be rescheduled to a different date up to 65 days out. If the boat cannot sail because of weather or force majeure, the operator offers either a new date or a 70 per cent refund. These are seller-specific reference terms, not confirmation of the policy for booking directly with the operator.
