Staying Before and After a Komodo Boat Trip: Checkout, Luggage and Showers
Plan hotels around a Komodo boat trip with separate checks for checkout, baggage storage, showers, day use and transfers.

A hotel before and after a Komodo trip can solve four needs: sleep, baggage storage, washing and a reliable transfer. One room night does not automatically include all four across the days you spend at sea.
Map the handovers
Write down checkout, the boat meeting time, return window and onward departure. Include each location. A hotel near the harbour may still be inconvenient if your boat meets elsewhere or luggage must cross steps.
| Stage | Confirm | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Before boarding | Checkout, breakfast and pickup | Reception and kitchen cover every departure |
| At sea | Storage duration and responsibility | Any hotel holds bags for non-guests |
| After return | Room, shower or day use | Storage includes a shower |
| Onward travel | Collection point and buffer | An exact guaranteed boat return |

A written policy beats an old review
Komodo Resort’s FAQ says guests can arrange luggage storage at its Labuan Bajo office before or after a stay, with advance notice to reservations. This specific statement should not be generalised to other properties, valuables or unlimited duration.
A review praising a receptionist can identify a question, but it is not a current policy. Send storage dates, bag count and size. Ask about charges, labelling, collection hours and excluded items.
Separate storage, showers and rooms
A luggage room does not provide a bathroom. A lobby bathroom need not include a shower. Pool showers may be unavailable after checkout or to returning guests. Ask whether towels, changing space and a time limit are included.
If washing and resting are essential, confirm day use or reserve an additional night. Subject to availability means the hotel may be unable to provide the service when you return. Keep an alternative for an uncertain benefit.
Check cancellation across bookings
The hotel and boat may be separate contracts. A boat cancellation does not automatically waive a hotel charge. Review both date-change and cancellation terms before payment.
Ask what happens if the return is delayed. Arrange communication for late hotel arrival and a realistic onward-flight buffer. A published itinerary is a planning framework, not protection against operational changes.
Pack around the two handovers
Keep documents, medication, necessary electronics and onboard items with you. Leave only belongings covered by the storage agreement. Label bags and retain confirmation. Consider the condition of wet gear left sealed for several days.
On the final morning, keep clothing and onward-travel essentials accessible. That helps even when the hotel room is not immediately ready.
Choose around the departure
For a komodo tour 3 days 2 nights, confirm both ends before selecting a hotel by distance. Ask whether pickup covers your address and whether return transport goes to the hotel, airport or a fixed point.
Check how to settle hotel extras before an early departure and who releases stored bags after reception hours. Those small details can matter more than a welcome-drink benefit.
Is late checkout guaranteed on request?
Only if confirmed under the applicable terms. A request is not a reservation for extra room time.
Should both stays use the same hotel?
It can simplify communication and storage. Compare the total and obtain the actual policy.
Plan the two luggage handovers
Write down checkout time, luggage storage location and collection hours before committing to a boat departure. If you return late, ask whether a shower or changing area is available without booking another night. Keep your medicines and travel documents in the bag that stays with you rather than the bag stored at the hotel.

Coordinate checkout, luggage and shower access with the timing of your Komodo tour packages and the Labuan Bajo arrival guide.
Write the two luggage handovers with named times
Before boarding, confirm hotel checkout, who accepts the main luggage, how it is labelled and how you retrieve it after returning. A storage agreement does not promise a private room, shower or late checkout. For valuables, ask about the property’s actual storage terms and keep necessary documents with you.
After sailing, compare a day-use arrangement with an overnight room using your actual return window. If the boat is late, the available shower or room period may be shorter. Tell the property the booking is tied to a boat return and ask what changes are possible under its stated terms.
Does storing luggage include access to a shower?
Only if the property explicitly agrees. Storage, facilities access and room use are different services.
For regional orientation, see the Ministry of Tourism’s Labuan Bajo overview; individual access, prices and provider policies require their own current confirmation.
