Komodo Liveaboard Fleet Report: Cabins, Capacity and Booking Models
A dated snapshot of 169 published Komodo-tagged liveaboard records: cabin counts, class labels and declared booking formats with limits.

We counted the published vessel records in KomodoInsider’s staging directory at 2026-10-18T16:52:30+00:00 on 18 October 2026. Of 225 published liveaboard records, 221 carried the Komodo cruise-area tag. This is an inventory of listing fields, not an independent vessel inspection, a live availability feed or a count of bookable departures.
Download the dated fleet data
Download the 225-record fleet snapshot as CSV. Filter included_komodo_cohort to 1 to reproduce the 221-record sample. The export also retains the 4 published records outside that sample so the selection can be checked.
Scope and method
We selected WordPress records with the Liveaboard listing type and published status, then included only those carrying the Komodo term in the cruise-area taxonomy. Draft and scheduled vessel records were excluded. The class label comes from the directory’s rate-plan tier field; cabins and guests come from the vessel’s total-cabins and maximum-guests fields. Only positive whole numbers enter the numeric cabin calculations. Descriptive charter labels are classified as shared, private, both or unclassified; they do not establish which rates are bookable.
| Field in the 221-record sample | Result | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Directory class label | Deluxe: 57; Luxury: 78; VVIP: 86 | Browsing categories, not accreditation. |
| Recorded cabins | 1,359 across 220 valid records; median 6 | 1 missing or invalid record(s) excluded from the sum and median. |
| Most common cabin counts | 5 cabins: 46 boats; 6 cabins: 38 boats; 7 cabins: 33 boats | Cabins, not beds or available rooms. |
| Maximum guests | 221 valid positive-number records | A stated field, not a certified capacity check. |
| Descriptive booking format | both: 157; private only: 54; shared only: 10 | Vessel descriptions, not current route-specific offers. |
What the numbers can and cannot answer

The cabin median uses the ordered valid numeric values; for an even number of valid records, it is the mean of the two middle values. The recorded range is 1 to 15 cabins. Missing or invalid values remain blank in the numeric CSV columns and are not treated as zero. More cabins do not establish more space per guest: bed layout, room allocation and the permitted passenger manifest are separate checks.
The CSV stores raw charter labels as JSON in charter_types. A shared or private description does not establish an actual departure, sailing date, rate, purchase unit or cabin assignment. A whole-boat charter divided by a guest limit is not a shared-cabin fare. Compare the vessel records with the relevant 3D2N route offers and request a written confirmation.
How to use a vessel example

Choose a boat for your route and group, then use the cabin selection guide and quote-inclusions checklist to investigate its actual offer. The boat-class comparison explains why a class label cannot replace those checks. The raw focus value Mixed in this research export means the directory’s mixed activity category; it is not proof of a programme for every combination of guests.
Reproduce this edition
- Open the CSV and keep rows with included_komodo_cohort = 1.
- Count id values for the sample size and group class_label and booking_description for the distributions.
- Exclude blank cabins_numeric values; sum, sort and calculate their median.
- Count nonblank max_guests_numeric values for field completeness. Do not sum them into available berths.
- Cite the snapshot timestamp. Live vessel pages may have changed since that cutoff.

Edition history and limits
This 18 October edition replaces an earlier 24 September summary of 169 Komodo-tagged records. A retained row-level export was not available for that earlier summary, so its membership cannot be reproduced here. The old and new totals must not be used as a fleet-growth measure: additions, retagging and field corrections can all change a directory cohort. This edition preserves the dated rows used for every figure above.
The analysis checks directory-field consistency, not the seaworthiness, service quality, legal capacity, price or availability of a vessel. Field values that matter to your booking still require confirmation with the operator. Use the Komodo tour comparison to choose the appropriate route before comparing an offer.
