From May to October, The Maj Oceanic is typically based around Komodo from Labuan Bajo. The operator requires a four-night minimum and tailors each charter around conditions, covering combinations of Padar, Pink Beach, manta sites, dragon treks, diving, snorkeling and quieter anchorages.
From November to April, the vessel is typically based around Raja Ampat, where the minimum is six nights. Banda, Alor and other Indonesian regions are also available seasonally; ports, relocation and route details are confirmed in the live proposal.
Families and mixed-ability groups. Sixteen crew for twelve guests is closer to a private villa than a dive boat, and the seven-cabin layout gives a family group room to spread out without anyone being relegated to a bunk. Starlink on board means the trip survives contact with work and school.
Charterers who want range rather than one park. She works Komodo, Raja Ampat, the Banda Sea and Alor. Few vessels in this bracket cover all four, and it means a repeat charter does not have to be the same trip twice.
Groups that value crew ratio over dive logistics. The service level is the product here. If what you want is a boat that anticipates rather than reacts, this is the right end of the market.
Divers who want the option, not the schedule. Nitrox, a compressor and two guides mean serious diving is possible, particularly in Banda and Alor, without the day being structured around four tanks.
Solo travellers and couples on a budget. Whole-boat only, four-night minimum. There is no way onto this vessel for under a group.
Dive-first charters. The operator sells her as leisure-led, and the dive programme reflects that. Groups whose main measure of a good week is tank count will get more out of a dedicated dive liveaboard.
Anyone expecting the park fee inside the rate. Komodo national park and ranger fees are collected separately, unlike some vessels in the same price band. Budget for it.
The Maj Oceanic is a 47-metre two-masted phinisi launched in 2020 and operated as a private whole-vessel charter. The current official rate sheet lists a 6+1-cabin configuration for 12 guests, while the accommodation page names six principal suites: the Zheng He Admiral Suite, the Columbus Commodore Suite and four Deluxe Staterooms named F. Magellan, Marcopolo, Vasco da Gama and James Cook.
Zheng He occupies the bridge deck and spans 120 square metres, with a private balcony and 270-degree sea views. Columbus is a 35-square-metre suite on the main deck. The four approximately 25-square-metre Deluxe Staterooms are on the lower deck and include private bathrooms, a chaise, storage and a writing desk. The operator publishes extra-guest supplements but does not separately describe or photograph the additional “+1” room, so it is not presented here as a distinct cabin type.
The vessel follows Indonesia's seasons. Komodo, Sumbawa, Bali and Sumba are quoted at USD 13,000 per night before 12% VAT in 2026, with a four-night minimum in Komodo. Raja Ampat, Banda Spice Islands and Alor are USD 14,000 per night before VAT, with a six-night minimum in Raja Ampat. The displayed Komodo minimum includes the mandatory VAT.
Onboard facilities include indoor and outdoor dining, multiple lounge areas, a sun deck, spa and massage room, gym equipment, an equatorial golf setup, kayaks, paddleboards, waterskiing, wakeboarding, snorkeling and diving equipment, and two 6-metre RIB tenders. Park entrance fees, guides, fuel, permits and airport transfers are included under the active 2026 rate sheet; alcohol, spa treatments, jetskis, internet packages, insurance and gratuities remain separate.
The Admiral Suite, and at 120 sqm the largest master suite on a Phinisi in this market. Zheng He has the bridge deck to itself, which buys something rarer than floor space: nobody passes your door. A private balcony opens onto a 270-degree sweep of ocean.
The second-largest suite aboard at 35 sqm — resort proportions rather than cabin proportions. Room to unpack properly, and room to sit somewhere other than the edge of the bed.
The active 2026 full-ship rate includes gourmet meals and snacks, soft drinks and juices, personal laundry, onboard gym and entertainment equipment, golf equipment with 25 complimentary biodegradable balls, paddleboards, kayaks, waterskiing, wakeboarding, snorkeling and diving equipment, a dive instructor, tenders, excursions, guide fees, park entrance, boat clearance, cruise permits, fuel and airport transfers.
The displayed USD minimum includes mandatory 12% VAT. Flights, alcohol, spa treatments, jetskis, satellite or internet packages, insurance, gratuities, personal expenses, unscheduled excursions and onboard-consumption service charges are separate. A 50% deposit confirms the charter; the balance is due 90 days before departure. Cancellation 60 days or more before departure forfeits the 50% deposit, while cancellation inside 60 days forfeits the full payment.

Peak Komodo dates between June and September are usually taken six to nine months ahead. Shoulder months can sometimes be held four to eight weeks out.
Park entrance, ranger and trekking fees are not included in the charter rate and are settled separately.
Four nights for Komodo. Shorter itineraries are not sold, so the quoted rate is based on that minimum.
Starlink is installed, so connectivity is usually workable across the park, though it can drop in narrow bays and behind high terrain.
No. The Maj Oceanic is sold as a whole-vessel private charter across all seven cabins. The rate is the same for four guests as for twelve, so the per-person figure shown here assumes a full boat. An extra twin cabin is available at USD 750 plus VAT per night per adult, or USD 500 for a child up to twelve.
The vessel carries Nitrox, a compressor and two dive guides, with a maximum of four divers per guide. The operator nonetheless positions her as a leisure charter rather than a dive liveaboard, so dive schedules bend around the wider programme instead of driving it. Divers planning the Banda Sea or Alor legs should confirm certification requirements and tank counts directly with the operator.
