Komodo National Park out of Labuan Bajo, sold two ways. Leisure itineraries run one to five nights on the standard circuit: Kelor, Manjarite and the Kalong sunset, then Padar at first light, Pink Beach, the Komodo Island dragon trek, Taka Makassar and Manta Point, closing with a snorkel at Kanawa or Sebayur. Diving itineraries start at four days and run to nine, with three to four dives a day including tanks and weight belt, working the current sites the leisure boats skip. Pick-up runs eight to ten in the morning.

About This Vessel

Kaia is a 26-metre phinisi built in 2022 from ironwood and teak. Each guest cabin has its own balcony. Six ocean-view cabins, four with double beds and two with singles, twelve guests, and seven crew.

Published diving facilities include an onboard compressor. There is a Coltri MCH16 Ergo compressor rated at 318 litres a minute on board, dive guides are included in the fare, and diving packages run three to four dives a day. The published diving itineraries stretch to nine days and eight nights.

The tankage tells the same story. She carries 16,000 litres of fresh water against 7,000 litres of fuel on a 26-metre hull, a ratio built for long trips with divers rinsing gear rather than two-night island hops.

Mechanically she runs a 320 hp Mitsubishi Marine with two 30 kVA diesel generators at seven to ten knots, navigating on Garmin GPSmap with AIS and an Icom SSB marine transceiver. The tender takes twelve, the full guest complement, on a 40 hp engine. Safety equipment covers a life raft, life jackets, fire extinguishers and ring buoys.

Booking runs through SIORA, the park's own system, and is handled by a licensed operator before arrival. There is no ticket window at the gate.
A daily cap of 1,000 visitors applies across the park, split between Komodo, Rinca and Padar and the dive sites around them.
Entry runs in sessions rather than all day, which is why a boat's arrival time is set by the park and not by the crew.
A drone permit is separate, expensive, and has to be requested well in advance.

Do all the cabins really have balconies?

Yes, all six. Four have double beds and two have single beds, and every one is an ocean-view cabin with its own private balcony, ensuite bathroom and air conditioning. On a 26-metre hull that is unusual: larger boats in this directory typically reserve balconies for two or three top cabins.

Can a solo traveller book?

How does the group size affect the price?

Why does a 26-metre boat carry 16,000 litres of water?

Because she is built around diving. That is more fresh water than several 38-metre boats in this directory carry, against only 7,000 litres of fuel. Divers rinsing gear and showering after three or four dives a day use far more water than guests on a two-night island cruise.

What is not included?
