Alore works Komodo National Park only, out of Labuan Bajo, on trips from one to six nights. The short itinerary picks up at 09:00 and runs west to Kelor for the trek, Manjarite for snorkelling, then Kalong at dusk for the flying foxes. Longer versions take in Padar, Pink Beach, the ranger walk on Komodo or Rinca, Manta Point, Taka Makassar, Siaba and Kanawa. Diving itineraries stretch to ten days and nine nights, which is unusual for a boat that stays inside the park.
Suits: mixed groups who need to divide rooms without anyone feeling shortchanged. Seven cabins in four different configurations, including a genuine four-berth family room and two matched balcony doubles, gives a party of twelve to sixteen more allocation options than most boats this size.
Also worth knowing: the drone, GoPro and mirrorless documentation is included in the rate rather than sold as an add-on, and the camera room means underwater photographers have somewhere to work.
Less suited to: long remote expeditions. The watermaker produces only 1,000 litres a day, well below the 5,000 to 10,000 carried by the boats running Raja Ampat and the Banda Sea, and her published itineraries stay inside Komodo.
Alore is a 2022 phinisi working Komodo out of Labuan Bajo, and her selling point is the spread of cabin types rather than one headline suite. Seven cabins take sixteen guests across two decks, and the layouts differ materially: a four-berth family room, two doubles with private balconies, two twins and two doubles below the waterline. For a mixed group that has to allocate rooms fairly, that range does more work than a single grand cabin would.
She measures 37.49 metres by 7.15, built from ironwood, bitti and teak, and runs a Mitsubishi 8DC9 at seven to ten knots. Navigation is more complete than most boats in her class list: radar, GPS, AIS, radio, compass, satellite phone and a clinometer. Three generator banks at 80, 42.5 and 22.5 KVA. The watermaker is modest at 1,000 litres a day, which is a genuine limit on long remote itineraries and part of why she stays inside the park.
The dive setup is real rather than decorative: a dedicated dive deck with tanks, breathing air compressors and rental gear, plus a camera room for storing and charging equipment. Up to four dives a day with a guide are quoted by agents selling her. Alongside that sit paddleboards, a canoe and a tender, and on the leisure side a living room, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a sun deck and a library.
Alore is sold as a whole-boat private charter. Official pricing is banded by group size and trip length: the shortest leisure package is two days and one night from USD 5,928 for up to eight guests, rising for larger parties. Diving packages start at three days and two nights and include up to four guided dives per day.
Upper-deck family cabin with two king-size beds for up to four guests, sea-view windows, private ensuite bathroom and air conditioning.
Double bed on the upper deck with a private balcony of its own, sea-view windows, ensuite bathroom and air conditioning. One of only two cabins on board with outdoor space attached, so it goes first on most bookings.
The second balcony cabin, matching cabin 2: double bed, private balcony, sea view, ensuite and air conditioning. Booking both gives two couples equal standing rather than one taking the better room.
Two single beds on the lower deck behind a porthole. Private bathroom and air conditioning, same fittings as above, less light. Suits friends sharing rather than couples.
The second lower deck twin, identical to cabin 4. Two singles, porthole, private bathroom, air conditioning.
Double bed on the lower deck with a porthole, ensuite bathroom and air conditioning. The cheapest way for a couple to be on this boat.
Alore is sold as a private whole-boat charter. The official leisure rate starts at USD 5,928 per package for a two-day, one-night voyage with up to eight guests. The same trip is USD 6,491 for 9–12 guests and USD 6,991 for 13–16 guests. Diving charters start at USD 10,111 for three days and two nights with up to eight guests.
Included: return airport or hotel transfer, air-conditioned ensuite cabins and amenities, three meals daily, one evening snack, mineral water, soft drinks, tea and coffee, Starlink satellite internet, snorkeling gear, local guide, island excursions and tender boat. Diving packages also include up to four dives per day, a dive guide, one 80 cu ft cylinder per dive, weights and belt.
