Magia II

Magia II is not trying to look like a traditional phinisi. Launched in 2019 and built entirely from teak in South Sulawesi, she takes her cues from 1960s classic cruisers rather than from spice-trade schooners, and the fit-out follows that logic: English silverware, French wallpapers, Italian lamps, a soft vintage palette of polished wood and natural fabric. The result reads closer to a small period yacht than to the varnished-and-carved look most Indonesian charter boats aim for.

At 26 metres by 6 she is among the smallest boats in this collection, and the cabin count reflects it. The Putri Duyung master sits aft with a 180-degree panorama, a double bed, a sofa and a private balcony carrying two jacuzzi seats, which is rare on a boat this size. Below deck sit the Mola-Mola VIP cabin and the Lumba-Lumba and Kura-Kura standards, all with porthole views, ensuite bathrooms and individual air conditioning, finished in what agents describe as colonial modern.

The large upper deck is the social space, with a well-stocked bar and a wide day-bed that seats every guest on board at once. Mechanically she runs an eight-cylinder D9, two 20 kVA generators and a 2,500 litre-a-day watermaker, at eight to ten knots. Navigation covers radar, echo sounder, satellite telephone, GPS, SSB and VHF radio.

She works Komodo National Park out of Labuan Bajo and also cruises Raja Ampat, sold as a whole-vessel private charter. Note that relocating her outside Komodo carries a daily fee on top of the nightly rate.
